The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) just announced that Dr. Cheri Blauwet, MD, was voted to the USOC Board of Directors. Dr. Blauwet is the first person from the Paralympic movement voted to the board.
Dr. Blauwet is a decorated Paralympic athlete in the sport of wheelchair racing, winning a gold, two silver and a bronze medal over her career. After retiring from competition, Dr. Blauwet served in a number of roles in the Olympic and Paralympic movement, including as a member of the International Olympic Committee Medical and Scientific Expert Group. Until September 2016, she served as treasurer on the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency Board of Directors. She has been an important voice for equality in sports and has pushed for better science and care of athletes with disabilities. Click here to view the full news release.
